Man City 5-0 Swansea City: Champions claim rampant win over hapless Swans

Despite being confirmed Premier League champions last weekend, Manchester City kept up the fantastic football with an utterly dominant display, winning 5-0 at home to Swansea.

There was a party atmosphere at the Etihad and the home side always looked like they were going to win the game and David Silva got the ball rolling for them in th 12th minute.

Raheem Sterling tapped in Fabian Delph’s low cross to double the Citizens’ lead.

The champions made it 3-0 via a Kevin De Bruyne pile driver shortly after the break before Bernardo Silva scored on the rebound from Gabriel Jesus’ missed penalty.

Jesus’ did get his goal on 88 minutes, however, with a routine header to complete the rout.

STAR MAN

De Bruyne has been the star man of the season for Manchester City, never mind this game.

The playmaker dictated the pace of the game that Swansea simply had no answers for and his great performance was capped off with a stunning strike from distance.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

It was a very pleasant game from a City perspective, which saw an emotional return to the fold for Benjamin Mendy from a long-term injury but the moment of the match has to be De Bruyne’s screamer.

The Belgian, who is a candidate for PFA Player of the Year this season, picked up the ball before driving it into the top corner from about 30 yards out. A great goal by a great player.
