GHALCA denies sending petition to FIFA

A leading member of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Fred Pappoe, has clarified that their outfit has not presented a petition to FIFA as reported in the media yesterday.

After the Ghana Football Association petitioned FIFA last week, another petition surfaced on Sunday supposedly from GHALCA to FIFA looking to get the world football governing body to intervene in the current impasse between the government of Ghana and football authorities in the country.

Pappoe, the Accra Great Olympics Executive and former GFA vice president, admitted to Citi Sports that the said petition was from GHALCA but denied that it had already been sent to the world football governing body.

“GHALCA’s petition to FIFA hasn’t gone yet. What you saw was a draft that was sent to some members for inputs and a few over-zealous guys leaked it to the media,” he told Citi Sports.

“It might not even go. It might also go in an edited form to reflect current developments.”

Meanwhile, Pappoe has also revealed that GHALCA will on Monday meet the Liason Team led by Dr. Kofi Amoah to discuss the way forward in returning football to the country.
