Kotoko to take on Simba FC in an international friendly

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will travel to Tanzania next week to take on Simba Sporting Club in an international friendly.

The game forms part of the Tanzanian club’s anniversary celebrations. Kotoko are expected to leave the country with a 28-man contingent for Tanzania next week Tuesday for the game next Wednesday.

Public Relations Officer of Kotoko Obed Acheampong confirmed the news to Citi Sports, and says the club accepted the request mainly to get some game time under the players’ belts, due to the current situation in Ghana football, as well as to give some exposure to their younger players.

“We received a letter from Simba FC in relation to one of their anniversaries. They call it the Simba day, and it happens once every year where they use friendly games to unveil new players for the new season.

“So they wrote a letter to Kotoko requesting a friendly game, and we looked at all the necessary details and agreed.

“We are currently not playing football in the country, so we are taking advantage of that to give our boy some international exposure. So as it stands, we will play the game next Wednesday,” he said.
