U-20 AFCON: Ghana beat Burkina Faso in Group B opener

Ghana’s U-20 team, the Black Satellites, defeated their Burkinabe couterparts 2-0 in the opening match of Group B at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger.

WAFA striker Daniel Lomotey scored in either half to give Jimmy Cobblah’s side the perfect start to the competition.

The game in Maradi, which was re-scheduled from Sunday, got off to a bright start for Ghana when sloppy defending from Burkina Faso allowed Lomotey to race clear and lob the goalkeeper on the stroke of half time.

Lomotey then produced similar physical dominance to brush aside his marker and lob the the keeper for a second time in the 77th minute to wrap up the win.

Ghana will take on Senegal on Wednesday and could book their place in the FIFA U-20 world cup with victory.
