NC Special: Medeama coach Samuel Boadu excited at Zone A top spot

Head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Samuel Boadu, is very happy that his side has moved to the top of of the Zone A table in the ongoing Normalisation Committee Special Competition.

The Yellow and Mauves needed to come back from a goal to beat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 on May 1 in Obuasi in an outstanding Week 1 tie in the competition. The game was played there due to the temporary ban on the use of the Golden City Park in Berekum because of violence.

Tahiru Awudu and Kalibo Toussanit scored for Medeama to win the game and render Solomon Oblitey’s goal for Chelsea inconsequential.

The result gave Medeama three points to move them to 16 points on the league log; 2 ahead of Kotoko in second place.

After the game, Boadu, told journalists that it was great being top spot after 8 weeks of the competition but he also highlighted the fact that the scoreline could have been bigger for his team.

“It is amazing to be top and I would like to thank the players and the technical team for the victory. The players were at their best and they listened to instructions.

Every team that faces Medeama prepares very well because they know our quality. It is quite unfortunate for us that we gave away an early goal but the boys came back into the game but we wasted all the chances that we created and we could have scored more.”

Medeama travel to face Eleven Wonders in Week 9 of the competition on May 5.
