Ecobank and Visa to reward visa card users during AFCON 2019

The promotion will run from May 2 to July 19, 2019.

Ecobank Ghana in partnership with Visa, has launched a sales promotion to reward users of Ecobank Visa Cards for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Egypt.

Ecobank Ghana and Visa will reward ten thousand Visa Card users with various prizes such as; tickets to watch live matches at accredited viewing centers in Accra; premium AFCON merchandise, souvenirs, free DSTV decoders, discounted installation and subscription fees as well as Visa Prepared Cards loaded with various amounts.

The ultimate prize is an all-expense paid trip to Cairo for three lucky winners and their partners to watch live matches at the Total AFCON.

“For us as a bank, it’s part of our financial inclusion agenda and we hope that by the end of this AFCON, we would have made some progress in our quests to move towards a cashless society.

“The AFCON tournament is a good platform for us to encourage all Ghanaians to use more cards for payments instead of cash. We hope people can make payment with cards as part of their daily lives so they can leave home every day with a card and be able to pay for goods and services conveniently,” Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Daniel Sackey said.

How to win

Holders of Ecobank Visa Cards are encouraged to use any of their Visa branded cards which include Visa Prepaid, Debit and Credit cards, for online transactions and payments at any Point of Sale (POS) sale terminal to qualify for the promotion.

The AFCON kicks off on June 21 with an expanded 24 team competition fighting for the trophy.

The first promotion to select winners who will be traveling to Egypt will run from May 2, 2019 to May 23, 2019 while the full promotion ends on July 19, 2019.

Card users may use their Ecobank Visa Cards to pay for: groceries, fuel, salon services, food and more at merchant shops using the Point of Sale terminal or simply shop online.

Winners will be selected weekly, based on two criteria;

  1. Visa Card user with highest number of payments on a POS or online or both.
  2. Visa Card user with the highest transaction value on POS, online or both.
