Second half Goals from Evelyn Badu and teenager Mukarama Abdullai secured Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo’s team a dream start to the competition.

The first half was very difficult, the strikers were a bit anxious but I told them to calm down in the second half,” the coach said after the game.

“In the second half I told them to them to play penetrating passes because we realised the Senegalese were setting offside traps and that did the trick for us.”

Ghana will take on Togo on Friday for their second group A game. The Togolese lost 4-0 to host Cote d’Ivoire in their opening match.
