NC Special: I wanted to give my players some ‘hot lashes’ – Johnson Smith

Karela were beaten 1-0 by Hearts of Oak in their Week 12 clash in the Competition

Karela United Head Coach Johnson Smith says he would’ve loved to give his players some lashes during Wednesday’s defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak in the NC Special Competition.

Christopher Bonney’s penalty 15 minutes to time proved to be the difference between the two sides, in a game where Karela  we’re guilty of squandering numerous goal scoring opportunities.

Smith was visibly frustrated with his side’s output during the game, and vented his anger on a water bottle, kicking it after one of his team’s several missed chances.

“I kicked the bottle because my players were messing up,” he said.

”If it were to be in the olden days, I would’ve called them to the touch line and given them some strokes.

”That used to happen a lot in those days, and players understood because they believed in the coaches.” he added.

The defeat now means, Karela will need to pick up maximum points in their last two games, to seal qualification to the semi finals of the competition.
