Kotoko, AshGold in tricky opening ties of CAF Interclub competitions

Ghana’s Asante Kotoko will face Kano Pillars of Nigeria in the preliminary qualifying round of the CAF Champions League.

Kotoko got to play in the competition by virtue of their capture of the NC Special Tier 1 Competition.

They will take on Kano Pillars away in the first leg before facing them in Kumasi in the return leg.

Should Kotoko make it to the next round, they will face either Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia or Hafia SC of Guinea.

Ashanti Gold will come up against Akonangui FC of Equatorial Guinea in the Confederation Cup preliminary qualifying round.

The Miners won the NC Special Tier 2 Competition and that enabled them to represent Ghana in the Confed Cup.

Like Kotoko, they will play away from home in the first leg and play the return leg at home.
