AFCON U-23Q: Ghana has only 13 outfield players available to face Algeria

The technical team of the Ghana U-23 team, the Black Meteors, have been hit with further bad news as it has emerged that the there are only 13 outfield players available for selection in the crucial CAF U-23 AFCON qualifying match against Algeria in Setif.

Ghana need to score in Algeria to stand any chance of qualifying to the 8- team tournament in Egypt but that task has become more difficult following suspension and injuries to key players.

Ghana traveled with just 18 players for the game, 16 outfield players and 2 goalkeepers. But that number has now gone down to 13 because midfielder Majeed Ashimeru is suspended, striker Osman Bukari ill and defender Zakaria Fuseini is still recovering from collapsing in training.

The Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, Ashimeru, traveled with the squad to Algeria on Sunday with all intentions of featuring in the game but the GFA was notified on Monday that the midfielder was suspended for the tie having accumulated two yellow cards in the previous ties.

The game will take place at 19:45GMT at the Stade 8 Mai 1945 stadium in Setif.
