U-23 AFCON: Ghana to face Côte d’Ivoire in semis on Tuesday

Ghana’s Black Meteors will come up against their neighbours, Côte d’Ivoire, in the semi finals of the ongoing U-23 AFCON tournament in Egypt on Tuesday.

The pairing was determined after Friday’s 3rd round of Group B matches which saw the Ivorians beating Zambia 1-0 and South Africa drawing goalless with Nigeria.

Even though the semi-final will grant passage to the final for one team, it hold a greater value since the winner automatically gets a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics football tournament.

This is because the U-23 AFCON tournament is supposed to provide three participants from Africa and that means, the finalists will have two of the tickets with the 3rd placed team getting the other.

The clash between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire comes off on Tuesday at 7pm Ghana time.

Before that, Egypt will face South Africa in the other semi-final clash at 3pm.
