GHPL Week 1: Hearts lose, Medeama and Aduana grab big wins

The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season started on Sunday 29th December across all the nine league centres in the country with some big names picking up full points and some also dropping maximum points.

The likes of Accra Heart of Oak and Liberty Professionals failed to pick up three points at home in the first round of matches.

Accra Hearts of Oak vs Berekum Chelsea:

Berekum Chelsea shocked Hearts of Oak on the opening day of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League after beating the Rainbow club at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Jonah Attuquaye’s 34th-minute effort separated the two sides in a pulsating game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Aduana Stars vs Inter Allies:

Yahaya Mohammed scored a sensational hat-trick that helped Aduana Stars defeat Inter Allies 4-0 in their Ghana Premier League opener.

Asante Kotoko vs Eleven Wonders:

Asante Kotoko earned a hard-fought victory after beating Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Midfielder, Justice Blay’s second minute goal helped the Porcupine Warriors secure all three points on the opening of the new season.

Dreams FC vs King Faisal

King Faisal’s re-introduction to the premier league ended in a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

Emmanuel Ocran scored twice in the 44th and 52nd minutes of the game. Ibrahim Issah turned from assist to goal scorer in 65th minute to register his first goal of the season before Dantani Amadu did the ultimate damage in the 80th minute of the game.

Mohammed, however, pulled one back in the 65th minute of the game.

AshantiGold vs Accra Great Olympics

The Miners defeated Accra Great Olympics by three-goals-to-nil at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Yussif Mubarik, Amos Addai, Shafiu Mumuni got the goals for the home side.
