“Time saved Olympics on Sunday from mauling”- Aduana Stars head coach W.O. Tandoh

Aduana Stars head coach, Wilson O. Tandoh, says that Great Olympics were very fortunate to have conceded only a single goal on Sunday when the team two teams met in Week 2 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Aduana Stars got the victory after Nathan Kwasi Richmond scored in second half injury time. The victory was Aduana’s second of the season while it was yet another loss for Great Olympics in the league.

After the match, Tandoh told journalists that the scoreline could have been heavier if there was more time left on the clock. He also stated that their victory was down to a thorough understanding of Olympics’ of style of play.

“Olympics were lucky on Sunday because if there was more time, we would have buried them. From a tactical perspective, we knew that we were the stronger team.

They did not know they would be in the league and so, on their entry, they got some very good players on the ball but they lacked strength and endurance.

Based on what our scout told us after they played AshGold, we decided to keep the ball at a point and open up to see what would happen.

In the second half, we opted to close up and let them use up their strength. We then brought on a more energetic player to finish the game off and that is what he did.”

The victory gave Aduana Stars 6 points on the log and they are tied top with Medeama, Dreams FC, AshGold and Asante Kotoko.

They host King Faisal in Dormaa in Week 3 of the league season.
