Long Jump: Deborah Acquah sets new Indoor National Record

Long jumper, Deborah Acquah, has set a new Indoor National Record in the women’s long jump, breaking her own previous mark with an impressive jump of 6.57m at the Ted Nelson Invitational in Texas this past weekend.

The 2019 African Games silver medalist, who broke the outdoor school record last spring, has now set a new Indoor record at her school, Texas A&M, bettering a previous record held by Adrien Sawyer set in 1998.

Acquah’s leap is also a meeting record.

“I talked about it with my teammates,” Acquah is quoted by the eagle.com.

“I told her, ‘I don’t care what I jump, but I am going to break the school record.”

Acquah’s picture will be added to the back wall of the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium, where record-holders are recognized in oversized photos.

It’s a great start to the season for Acquah as we head further into the Olympic year.
