#GHPLWk6: 4 things to look out for in Hearts vs Kotoko clash

Accra Hearts of Oak will battle for supremacy with their arch-rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Game Week 6 of the Ghana Premier League.

The match is set to happen on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ahead of the clash, here are four things to look out for ahead of the game:

The historical statistics ahead of the game

The pending game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be the 105th time both sides have met in a league match.

Phobia has the upper hand over the Porcupine Warriors winning 34 games. Kotoko has managed two fewer wins than its rivals, with 38 games ending in a draw.

The Accra Sports Stadium has hosted this epic clash 55 times and both sides have shared equal victories, winning 16 games respectively.

A win for Kotoko will solidify their claims of the Accra Sports Stadium being their second home.

2019/2020 statistics

The two clubs have had a rocky start to the 2019/2020 season with just 5 matches played so far.

Hearts of Oak have won 2 games, lost 2 and drawn a game.

In the process, they have conceded 7 goals and scored just 4. They sit ninth on the league log with 7 points from a possible 15.

Kotoko, on the other hand, have picked up 3 wins, 2 losses and have drawn no match so far in the premier league this season.

They sit two places above their rivals in the seventh position on the league log after five matches played.

First-time battle

Edwin Nii Odum and Maxwell Konadu will be facing each other for the very first time as head coaches of Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko respectively.

In matches of this magnitude, oftentimes, statistics and form play little or no role and the best tactician often carries the day.

That will be the story on Sunday as both coaches will be seeking to whip up their players and the fans to victory.

The 12th man

In football, fans play a pivotal role in whipping up energy for teams to propel themselves to victory.

This Sunday will be no different as both sides will be hoping their fans will sing songs to help them fight for the maximum points.

However, it will be the home side, Accra Hearts of Oak who will be craving for the needed support to overcome their arch-rivals.

Fans have been urged to desist from hooliganism by the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The GFA is embarking on a #SayNoToHooliganism campaign to ensure safety during football matches and most especially this epic tie.
