Ghana’s Thomas Partey scores against Valencia but Atletico fail to win yet again [PHOTOS]

Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey scored his second league goal of the season for Atletico Madrid on Friday night against Valencia.

However, his struggling side failed to hold on to the lead as they drew 2-2.

Marcos Llorente had put Atleti ahead in the 15th minute with a close-range finish but Valencia found an equaliser with five minutes to go in the half, as Gabriel Paulista headed home.

Partey then stepped up with a superb shot from outside the box to give Atletico the lead two minutes before the break.

Diego Simeone’s side would have been hoping to pick up their first win in seven games, across all competitions but those hopes were dented when Jeffery Kondogbia bundled home for Valencia.

The point takes Valencia, who have failed to win three of their last five games to sixth while Atletico remain in fourth place, 12 points behind leaders Real Madrid.

They are just one point above Sevilla who have played a match less.

After the game, Partey told reporters that he and his teammates will keep working hard in order to ensure they start getting more positive results.

“Valencia play well and are strong at their stadium. They had the ball and we tried to play our game. We have to keep working hard, because results will come if we do so,” our midfielder said.
