Kings of Accra: Hearts of Oak thump Great Olympics in Accra Derby

Accra Hearts of Oak showed who the true landlords of Accra are with a resounding 4-0 victory over Great Olympics in matchweek 14 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians dominated the opening minutes of the game and tried to assert their authority on the game with a goal, but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping let them down.
The pressure finally paid off, with Joseph Esso slotting in after good work from Kofi Kordzi to set him up.

Olympics had a couple of half chances in their search for an equalizer, but it was not to be as the teams went into the break with Hearts a goal up.
Olympics dominated the early second half exchanges, but couldn’t affect the scoreline with their possession.

Hearts soon went two up through Benjamin Afutu, who sent his looping header past the Olympics goalkeeper after a poor defensive clearance by Olympics.

The goal completely changed the dynamics of the game as Hearts began to dictate the pace of the game, with Emmanuel Nettey and Afutu at the heart of the action.

Quick thinking from Daniel Afriyie gifted Hearts their third, after his 30 yard shot was spilled by the Olympics goalkeeper, allowing Afutu to tap in the rebound and grabbing his second.

Hearts completed the rout in injury time as Afriyie finally got his reward for a splendid performance, finishing from close range after a goal mouth scramble.
The result brought an end to Hearts’ three game winless run, much to the delight of the fans.
