Sixty-Three (63): Every player Kotoko signed under Kwame Kyei

Dr. Kwame Kyei took over as Asante Kotoko Board chairman in December 2016 for a three year mandate which expired in December 2019.

His time in charge has been mixed with success and unforgivable scandals in equal measure.

The 2017 FA Cup triumph over Hearts of Oak in Tamale surely stands out, and returning the club to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in 10 years also marked a highlight of his time in charge.

But a failure to settle a $180,000 compensation to Esperance led to the club subsequently needing to cough up $240,000 for the same settlement with the preceding rhetoric threatening to erode all of the gains the club has made the past 3 years.

While Manhyia is currently reviewing his tenure for a possible extension or otherwise, one of the things that will certainly catch the eyes of the 3-member committee put in place for that exercise will be the sheer number of players the club signed during Kwame Kyei’s reign.

Seven different coaches: Michael Osei, Zdravko Logarusic, Steve Pollack, Paa Kwasi Fabin, CK Akonnor, Kjetil Zachariasen and Maxwell Konadu; have combined to bring in a total of 63 players in 3 years.
