GFA: Lack of funds delaying the return of football

President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku has confessed that a lack of finances is the main reason why football cannot resume in Ghana at the moment.

Football was excluded from the list of sports allowed to return to light activity when government eased Covid – 19 restrictions.

This has put the fate of the current Ghana Premier League campaign in limbo and according to Kurt Okraku the time has come to get creative with income sources.

“Obviously it all comes down to money because if you want to embark on an elaborate educational campaign its about money.

“If you have to get access for PPE’s its about money.

“Clubs may have to play behind closed doors and that means money will be lost.

“The National Sports Authority will have to prepare stadia for us and that also raises a question about money.

“Money plays a big part and that is the gospel truth, the football economy is small and very robust and therefore it i a challenging period when we need to think outside the box and take a decision that is best for Ghana,” he told journalists at a Ministry of Information presser.
