Ashantigold CEO Emmanuel Frimpong promises improved Africa campaign

Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold FC Emmanuel Frimpong is confident that the team will improve on their last performance in the Caf Confederations Cup.

This comes after the Obuasi based side were given the nod alongside Asante Kotoko to represent Ghana on the continent following the decision of the GFA to cancel the league season.

The two teams are eligible due to their status as winners of the Normalization Committee’s tier one and tier two competitions.

According to Emmanuel Frimpong the team has spent time correcting their errors from the previous campaign and hope to do better.

“One thing a lot of people don’t know is I was with the team the last time we went to Africa.

“I was working under Frederick Acheampong so I know what did not go as planned.

“I feel like we have learnt from our mistakes and we know what to do and what not to do.

“We have signed a couple of new players that will help us get to the level we aspire and we also have a new coach coming in,” he told Citi Sports in an interview.

Ashanti Gold’s campaign in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup came to an end after a 2-0 defeat at RS Berkane with ten men.

The Miners bowed out 4-3 on aggregate despite winning the reverse fixture at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
