Azumah Nelson Sports complex is 78% complete – Chief Engineer

Chief Engineer of the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex renovation project, Paul Atanga, says the facility is 78% complete.

The facility in Kaneshie, is one of ten multipurpose sporting facilities being constructed across the country.

The project was initially scheduled to be completed in July 2019, but was then pushed back to March 2020.

However, it has been four months since the scheduled completion date, and the project is still yet to be completed.

Paul Atanga, in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, explained the major cause of the delay.

”We are 78% through with the work. When we started this work, there were unforeseen circumstances that we met, and as engineers when we meet a problem, we solve them before moving on.

”There is a drain that passes through the facility that discharges water from the Kaneshie township all the way to Odawna.

“It was passing through our VIP area, so we had to divert it so we don’t flood the industrial area.

”So that has been cleared. We are confident that we will finish the remaining 22% in the next few months, he said.

The facility is expected to have an ICT Center, a tennis, and basketball court and boxing gyms.
