“Nyantakyi is worth 10 current GFA Exco members” – Palmer lays into GFA leadership

President and Bankroller of Tema Youth Football Club, Wilfred Osei Kweku ‘Palmer’, has claimed former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is equivalent to ten members of the current GFA Executive Council.

Palmer was the deputy to Nyantakyi before the latter was forced to resign from his post and subsequently banned from all football-related activities by FIFA after being filmed in a corruption documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Palmer believes Nyantakyi’s understanding of the game is incomparable to the current handlers of the GFA and can’t be put in the same bracket.

“I’m not bragging but Nyantakyi alone is equivalent to ten. The quality of any Exco meeting is by the leader. You can’t compare Kurt to Kwesi Nyantakyi”, he said on Angel FM.

“Whoever was going to replace Nyantakyi was going to have a hectic time because when you take over from a colossus like Kwesi, you have to be mindful of so many things”, he added.

Nyantakyi was GFA President for 13 years between 2005 and 2018 when he was forced out of office following corruption allegations brought forth by Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ documentary.

After one year of normalisation, a new GFA administration was installed in October 2019 led by a new President, Kurt Okraku.

Palmer, who is perceived to be a loyalist of Nyantakyi, was disqualified from the contesting the GFA elections last year. He appealed the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and a verdict is expected to be delivered on September 1, 2020.
