CAFCL: Raja Casablanca banned from travel after 9 players contract COVID-19

Raja Casablanca will not be able to travel to Egypt for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Zamalek scheduled for Saturday after nine (9) players of the Moroccan giants tested positive for COVID-19.

Moroccan authorities have now ordered the team be placed in isolation for a period of one week , until October 27.

Consequently, the club is set to request for a postponement of the return leg in Cairo.

Achraf Bencharki’s strike handed Zamalek a 1-0 win in Morocco last Sunday to give the Egyptian side the advantage heading into the second leg.

Per CAF’s guidelines on the resumption of its inter-club competition, a team with more than 5 confirmed cases of coronavirus can apply and be granted a postponement of their game.

With 9 confirmed cases, CAF is expected to grant Raja’s request for the game to be rescheduled for a later date.
