2020 CalBank Open Golf Championship lights up Achimota Golf Course

A record 152 golfers from across the country participated in the 2020 edition of the CalBank Open Golf Championships, which concluded on Saturday 28th November, 2020 at the Achimota Golf Course.

The event, which was originally scheduled for 10th October had to be pushed forward after heavy downpour rendered the course unplayable on the original day.

The Ghanaian-owned bank organised the event as part of its annual strategy of empowering both professional and amateurs in the golf fraternity.

Some of the finest golfers from all the Golf Clubs in the country participated in the 18-hole competition.

The winners

Edward Abrokwah emerged winner of the men’s Group A, playing a gross score of 40 points (hcp 12), while 16 year old Aaliyah Iddriss picked up the trophy for the Ladies Group A with a gross score of 39 (hcp 15).

Christopher Mbii (38 points, hcp 2) and Kwame Dorkey (38, hcp 6) came 2nd and third respectively in the men’s Group A, with Floria Hurtubise (35 points, hcp 11) and L. Amponsah Mensah (35 points hcp 10) finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the women’s Group A.

  1. Hajia Zenabu (38 points, hcp 23)

Special Awards

The Frank Adu Jr Prizes, instituted in honor of the banks former Managing Director, went to Bismark Oppong (male) and Adwoa Asare Asamoah (female)

Closest to the Pin winners were Church Ansah (men) and Grace Afriyie (Ladies) while John Gaba (male) and Grace Afriyie (Ladies) picked up the Longest Drive awards.
