Ghana’s Black Princesses defeated Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses 4-0 in a repeat of an International friendly that was played last week Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A brace from captain Mukarama Abdulai and one each from Doris Boaduwaa and Suzzy Dede Teye gave Yussif Basigi’s side a resounding victory on a hot morning in Accra.
The Princesses came into today’s game eager to make an impression following a poor showing in the 1-0 loss to the Moroccans in the same encounter last Thursday.
Acting captain for the team Abdulai Mukarama who failed to impress during the last game opened the scoring for the Princesses in the 16th minute before Doris Boaduwaa doubled the lead for Ghana.
Mukarama made it 3-0 in the 36th minute to give them Ghana an unassailable lead heading into half-time.
Back from recess, Yusif Basigi’s girls picked up from where they left off with Suzzy Dede Tei wrapping up a comprehensive win with her first goal of the game and Ghana’s fourth.
The princesses will now focus their attention on preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers to be hosted in Costa Rica.
The tournament which was originally moved from August/September 2020 to January/February 2021, has now been cancelled outright by FIFA.
Attention will now shift to the qualifiers for the 2022 edition which will be hosted by Costa Rica.
