See the 20 highest-scoring midfielders in the 21st century

A list of the highest-scoring midfielders over the last two decades includes some of the world’s biggest names in the history of the games.

Only two players on transfermarkt’s list have scored above 200 goals, with both of them featuring prominently in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard’s 206 goals from midfield are only bettered by Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard, who found the net an amazing 261 times for the Blues, West Ham, Man City and New York City.

In third place is another player who graced the Premier League, former Tottenham player, Rafael van der Vaart.

Borussia Dortmund captain, Marco Reus is the highest placed active player while Man City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, who is better known for his assists, has still scored 127 goals.
