#GPLwk17: Hearts thump WAFA in Samuel Boadu’s first game; Olympics shock Dreams

Samuel Boadu started life as Accra Hearts of Oak coach with a thumping 4-0 win over 10-man WAFA at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 17 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

After Abukari Ibrahim Patrick Razak’s close range finish gave the Phobians a first half lead before they added three more in the second half from Victor Aidoo, Raddy Ovouka and Michelle Sarpong to hand Boadu, who joined the Phobians after quitting Medeama last week, a dream start to life in Accra.

Elsewhere, Accra Great Olympics put on the breaks on Dreams FC with a shock 1-0 win against Vladislav Viric’s men in Dawu.

Thomas Darlington’s 49th minute strike was enough to end Dreams FC’s run of 5 games at home without a defeat. Significantly, the victory ensures Olympics keep tabs of league leaders Karela United, with the gap to the top only a solitary point.

Elsewhere, Karela stayed top of the table with a 2-1 win over Aduana Stars, thanks to Diawisie Taylor’s brace.

Elmina Sharks ended Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten away record with a slim 1-0 win on Friday night, giving Odartey Lamptey a winning start to his career as Sharks’ head coach.

Bechem United drew 1-1 with Ebusua Dwarfs, and Berekum Chelsea and Medeama shared the spoils in another 1-1 draw. The same scoreline was recorded between Inter Allies and Ashantigold on Friday night.

Faisal beat Liberty Professionals 1-0 at home and Eleven Wonders brought an end to Legon Cities’ unbeaten run with a 1-0 win.

The league is expected to go on a two week break before the resumption of the second round.
