Andre Ayew fires Swansea into Championship promotion play-offs AGAIN

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew, has powered Swansea City into the Championship Promotion play-offs for a second consecutive season where they will hope to avoid the disappointment of last season when they lost out on a promotion to the Premier League.

Ayew made a scoring return to action as his 83rd minute strike was enough to secure a hard fought 2-2 draw with Reading in the Championship on Sunday which ultimately secured their place in the play-offs.

This is the 31-year-old’s 16th strike of the regular season, a goal higher than he reached last term.

Last season, Ayew was instrumental in getting Swansea to the play-offs with his 15 goals. He scored the winner in the first leg of their play-off semi final against Brentford but they lost the return leg 3-1, ending their hopes of promotion.

The Ghana captain is desperate to make amends this season.

Incidentally, Brentford, who knocked out Swansea last season before losing the play-offs final, are back in the play-offs along with Bournemouth and Barnsley.

The first legs of the Championship play-offs are slated for May 29, 2021.
