Betway donates to community teams in Ashanti Region

Bookmaking giants, Betway, on Thursday, donated sports equipment to local football and basketball teams in the Ashanti Region through its Betway Up programme.

The donation was at the end of the Betway Up training program, where teams were taken through sessions on sports science, coaching and practical training.

The equipment donated included soccer balls, basketballs, training bibs, shin guards and training cones. Representatives of the community teams were present to receive the sports equipment from Betway.

Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah and former Asante Kotoko captain, Yussif Alhassan Chibsah, delivered presentations on how teams could improve their fitness and brand position, while Ashanti Gold’s Medical Officer , Dr. George Chidi took players through aspects of sports science.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, Kwabena Oppong-Nkrumah, Country Manager (Marketing) for Betway Ghana highlighted the company’s commitments towards the development of sports in Ghana.

“For us at Betway, we have always believed in coming to the aid of people and communities we work with. The sports equipment is expected to help the communities to train for their respective leagues.”

The Ashanti Region is the third region to benefit from the BetwayUp initiative, which kicked off in January with a training programme for amputee teams and also a donation and training programme for teams in the Central Region.

BetwayUp is the main CSR drive for Betway in 2021, and is aimed at improving support to community sports teams across the country.
