GPL: Emmanuel Gyamfi available for Hearts of Oak clash despite misconduct charge

Asante Kotoko midfielder, Emmanuel Gyamfi, will be available for selection when Asante Kotoko face Accra Hearts of Oak in a crucial Ghana Premier League game on Sunday June 27, 2021, despite facing charges of misconduct at the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee.

There were fears the pacey winger would be suspended for the game after he was dragged to the DC for deliberately stepping on the foot of Inter Allies midfielder Andy Okpe, an incident that was missed by match officials but captured by television images.

Asante Kotoko requested for personal hearing on the matter and with the Disciplinary Committee’s next convention date scheduled for Tuesday June 29, 2021, no determination of the Gyamfi matter is expected before then, practically making him eligible to play against the Phobians in Accra.

Gyamfi has been a key player for the Kumasi based club in the second round of the Ghana Premier League under Portuguese tactician Mariano Barreto, scoring four goals and assisting four others.

Hearts of Oak and Kotoko are level on points at the top of the Ghana Premier League with 5 games to the end of the season.

Kotoko host Karela FC on Wednesday and Hearts of Oak play Legon Cities on Thursday before the sworn-rivals clash on Sunday.
