Sulemanu Tetteh: Overconfidence led to my elimination at the Tokyo Olympics

Captain of Ghana’s Black Bombers Sulemanu Tetteh has disclosed that he was eliminated from the men’s boxing event because he underestimated his opponent.

Tetteh won his first fight at the games but lost in his second fight against Veitia Yosbany of Cuba in the flyweight division in the Round of 16.

According to him, the experience gained from fighting South American boxers made him overconfident.

“My second fight felt like I was in the middle of South America.

“My first fight was with a gold medalist from South America and my second fight was with a silver medalist from the same continent.

“After beating the gold medalist I felt the bout against the silver medalist would be easy.

“I was overconfident and that led to my defeat,” he told Citi Tv in an interview

Following his second appearance at an Olympics, Tetteh says he is contemplating turning professional
