2022 WC Qualifiers: Zimbabwe sack head coach Logarusic ahead of Ghana clash

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) have sacked head coach Zdravko Logarusic following a poor run of results.

The association announced its decision just a week after Zimbabwe drew at home to South Africa before losing to Ethiopia in the opening two games of their World Cup Qualifiers, leaving them bottom in Group G.

The 55-year old was named head coach in January 2020 and guided the Warriors to their fifth Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

Since taking charge of ‘The Warriors’, the Croat has only managed to win one out of fourteen matches, losing eight and drawing five.

A new technical team is expected to be announced this week with former Chippa United coach Norman Mapeza an early favourite for the job.

Logarusic’s exit comes just before Zimbabwe’s double-header World Cup Qualifier match against Ghana in October.
