Ghanaian Division Two club Platini FC handed long term ban by FIFA

FIFA has handed a transfer ban to Ghanaian Second Division club Platini FC for failing to comply with a decision by FIFA’s Player Status Committee.

The Ashanti Region-based club has been handed a transfer ban of up to 3 years due to an unpaid debt to Portuguese club Sporting Clube da Covilhã (S.C. Covilhã) from Janaury 2018

Platini FC was adjudged to owe S.C. Covilhã  an amount of EUR 16,250 (GHS115,476.78) plus 5% interest per annum. The judgement was dealt to Platini FC in February 2020 along with a transfer ban.

However, Platini FC failed to comply leading to the Portuguese club to petition FIFA to punish the club further.

FIFA then decided that an additional transfer ban would be appropriate leading to them to write to the club and the GFA. The ban will end if Platini FC settle their debt with S.C. Covilhã
