John Paintsil: It will take a “miracle” for Milovan Rajevac to qualify Ghana for world cup

Ex-Black Stars full-back, John Paintsil says it will take a miracle for Milovan Rajevac to secure World Cup qualification should his appointment as new Black Stars head coach be announced.

Rajevac is in the running to be named the next Ghana coach following the sack of CK Akonnor last week.

Milovan Rajevac first took charge of the Black Stars in 2008 to 2010, playing 28 games, winning 12, drawing 5 and lost 11 times while scoring 35 goals and conceding 33 in the process.

If confirmed, Rajevac’s first task will come against Zimbabwe on October 6 at the Cape Coast Stadium, with the Black Stars currently behind group leaders South Africa following a slow start to the qualifiers in which they beat Ethiopia and lost to South Africa by 1-0 scorelines.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, John Paintsil says the “timing is wrong” and “it will only take a miracle to help him qualify this team”.

“If it is true Milo is taking over the job then I say the timing is wrong because how well does he know this current team. Our time was different because all the players were already made and it will only take a miracle to help him qualify this team,” he said.
