Citi Sports' Yaw Antwi Owusu captured the high moments of Ghana's impressive win in Milovan Rajevac's first game on his return as Head Coach of the Black Stars

Milovan Rajevac, started his second stint as Head Coach of the Black Stars with an important 3-1 win over Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Goals from Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey and captain Andre Ayew ensured the Black Stars kept hopes of making it to the 2022 World Cup alive.

The Black Stars needed victory in the race to qualify for Qatar 2022, after group rivals South Africa had beaten Ethiopia in the other group game and the team delivered exactly what fans came to witness.

Ghana were rewarded for their strong start when Ajax protégé, Kudus Mohammed finished neatly with his right foot after some good build up play involving himself, Jordan Ayew and Rennes’ Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Zimbabwe started the second half with more purpose and intent, and were back on level terms when their captain, Knowledge Musona scored from the spot after being brought down by Alexander Djiku in the box.

Thomas Partey dispossessed his man before beating two defenders to shot low and hard into the bottom corner to give Ghana the lead and a much needed breather.

That goal seemed to change the tide, as the Black Stars begun to grow in confidence. Then with three minutes left on the clock, captain Andre Ayew, made sure Ghana walked away with the three points when he headed in from close range from a Baba Rahman cross to make it 3-1 to Ghana.

The win keeps Ghana one point behind South Africa ahead of the return leg in Harare when Ghana play as guests to Zimbabwe on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
