Black Princesses captain, Evelyn Badu, is confident of a good result against Zambia in Saturday’s 2022 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup qualifier in Lusaka.

The Princesses are away from home in their first match of the series after getting a walkover against Mauritius in the previous round.

The team has been in Zambia since Tuesday and they have held training sessions since then as they get ready for the two-legged encounter.

Badu believes that she and her team mates have what it takes to get a very good result ahead of the return leg in Ghana.

“From the look of things, everything is good and we are very ready to face the Zambians on Saturday. We are going to beat them, get the victory and make ourselves and the country proud.”

The team’s head coach, Ben Fokuo, says that a good start in the qualifiers is important for the team and its intentions of making it to the World Cup in Costa Rica.

“The players are ready and when I look at their fitness levels, their composure and their training sessions, they tell me that the Princesses will out victorious.

They are making sure that they start well since the first match (in the qualifiers) is very important. That will push us forward to make it to the next round of the series.”

The return leg of the tie will be played on the weekend of December 16-18 in Ghana. Should the Princesses make it through, they will face the winner of the tie between Uganda and South Africa.

The Black Princesses are hoping to grab one of the two spots reserved for Africa in the 2022 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in Costa Rica.

The tournament runs from August 10 to August 28, 2022.
