2022 WCQ: ‘We want to confuse Nigeria’ – Anim Addo on Ghana squad ‘no show’

With less than ten days to Ghana’s crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria, the Ghana Football Association has yet to release the Black Stars squad for the crucial double-header.

According to GFA Exco member, Sammy Anim-Addo, it is a strategy by the country’s football governing body to confuse the Nigerians.

The crucial qualifying game is set to take place in just a few days but Ghanaians are yet to see the players the new technical team has called-up for the games, while opponents, the Super Eagles of Nigeria released their squad list more than a week ago.

Many believe the move by the GFA is to avoid criticism from Ghanaians, while others believe it is in a bid to prevent players from getting abused by fans on social media.

But, speaking on Citi Tv’s Football Made in Ghana, Anim-Addo, explained the reason behind the Ghana Football Association’s decision to delay in releasing Ghana’s squad for the double-header against Nigeria.

“Strategically, we must keep our opponents confused and they are confused and the time that they will need to regroup and organise themselves to know what our strengths are, will be limited. He said.

“The players who have been selected know they are travelling and are already preparing for the game,

“The most important thing is that you will get Ghanaians who are going to die for the country.”

The first leg of the game will be played on the 25th March at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before the second leg takes place in Abuja on the 29th.

The Baba Yara stadium replaces the Cape Coast stadium which was originally scheduled to host the match.
