2022 WC: Ghana captain Andre Ayew praises Otto Addo for ‘proud’ work

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew, has praised Otto Addo for the ‘proud’ work he did in qualifying Ghana for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ayew missed both games as Addo, together with George Boateng, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and Chris Hughton, masterminded Ghana’s qualification to Qatar 2022 at the expense of West African rivals Nigeria.

In an interview with TV3, Ayew said Otto did a wonderful job and intimated that the Borussia Dortmund trainer might bring stability to the team.

“We all saw that he did a great job, great is small, he did a very wonderful job. I had been with the team for three or four days before the game. I congratulate him so much. He changed a lot of little things on the pitch trying to find the solutions and it worked and we need to keep working”, Ayew said in an interview with 3Sports.

He added: “Proud Ghanaian to have qualified the nation to the world cup because it has been a difficult time for us with the changes of coaches and hopefully we could get some stability and and work towards the goal with some style.”

It is unclear if Addo will return to take charge of the team for the World Cup, having only been contracted for the two play-off games against Nigeria.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H at the World Cup, along with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
