GPL: Hearts batter Accra Lions to go fourth

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored two goals as Hearts of Oak recorded their first away win in 4 months.
The Phobians whose wretched away form has been a source of concern this season had gone 7 away games without a win and were looking to bounce back after a disappointing draw with Elmina Sharks whilst their opponents came into the game having won two on the bounce.
Hearts did not take long to stamp their authority on the game as they took an 11th-minute lead through Barnieh. Barnieh had it easy after Ibrahim Salifu’s shot was saved. It was not enough and the Hearts number 18 had the easy task of tapping it in.

The second goal was much longer in coming and arrived in the 55th minute as Isaac Agyenim Boateng beat the offside trap and calmly slotted it home to double Hearts’ lead.

Barnieh completed the scoring as he got onto the end of Sulley Muntari’s 89th-minute corner to complete the rout.

Hearts will look to keep their momentum going as they host Dreams FC in 9 days. Accra Lions on the other hand will be in Tamale to face struggling RTU.
