Two-time Super Bowl Champion, Osi Umenyiora, has claimed that Africa and African athletes are the future of the NFL.

He made these statements speaking exclusively to Citi Sports ahead of the NFL Africa Touchdown event.

The former New York Giants Defensive End stressed the importance of the continent to the game saying:

“Africa is the most important market for the NFL in the coming years, The NFL is full of players of African descent, either born in Africa or children of African immigrants”

He further elaborated his point stating:

“African players are the future of the NFL. Africans will come to dominate the NFL, there are over 100 African players in the NFL and the league is yet to make inroads on the continent so it shows we (Africans) have an affinity for the sport”
