Gladiator Cycling Club launch 2022 Osagyefo Criterium

The Gladiator Cycling Club has officially launched the second edition of the Osagyefo Criterium.

The 2022 cycling contest will be held on September 21, 2022, and will cover a total distance of 144km with 42 laps around the Accra Sports Stadium cycling circuit.

The aim of this event, according to the founder of Gladiator Cycling Club, Mr. Kojo Graham is for recreational purposes and social integration.

“The Gladiator Cycling Club is the primary promoter of this event and this event is for recreation and a means for social integration where class and social standing don’t matter. We committed to promoting worthy courses and that also includes charity,” he said.

He also added that the use of the image of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah is geared towards promoting African unity by using cycling as a tool to achieve that purpose.

At the launch, the official logo for the event was unveiled and the reason behind the design was well explained to the stakeholders present.

The logo features a silhouette of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the African map and the national colours of Ghana which are distinct, also speaking to the theme of the event.

The cash prize for winning is $10,000 in total plus items from sponsors for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th to 10th placed cyclists in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
