Ghanaian trio fail to progress in Swimming Competition at Commonwealth Games

Three Ghanaian Swimmers were in action earlier today in the 2022 Commonwealth Games but failed to press further in the competition.

Zaria Forson, Abeiku Jackson and Nubia Adjei all missed out securing fast enough times to book spots in the latter stages across various distances.

Abeiku Jackson completed Heat 9 of the Men’s 50 Meter Freestyle in a time of 23.62 seconds to rank eighth; the top five fastest swimmers secured qualification to the next round.

Jackson’s performance comes a day after finishing sixth in the semifinal of the Men’s 100 Meter Butterfly Heat 1 with a time of 53.79 seconds.

In the Women’s 50 Meter Backstroke Heat 3, Nubia Adjei finished seventh with a time of 30.97 seconds as the top four fastest swimmers qualified to the next stage.

In the Women’s 200 Meter Butterfly Heat 1, Zaira Forson finished seventh with a time of 2: 45.50 in a race that had the top three fastest swimmers qualify.

Ghana is yet to have a swimmer in either the Men’s and Women’s category secure spot in the finals of the ongoing multisport competition.
