Qatar 2022: Christian Atsu calls for Asamoah Gyan’s inclusion

Former Black Stars Winger Christian Atsu has called for the inclusion of Striker Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars team at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

He made this call in reaction to the Baby Jet’s big statement earlier this morning in an interview with the BBC where he indicated his readiness to compete on the big stage one more time if he is fit.

Writing on his Twitter page, former Newcastle and Everton winger Atsu, stated, “Honour Asamoah Gyan with his last wish”. Atsu played with Gyan at the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil.

Gyan has scored the most goals at the World Cup by an African player and is gunning to compete in his fourth World Cup after making appearances for the Black Stars in 2006, 2010 and 2014.

In the aforementioned interview, Ghana’s top goal scorer of all time pointed out he wasn’t officially retired and was willing to make himself available for selection.

The 36 year old Gyan last played for BetPawa Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities in the 2020-2021 Season after stints in India, China and United Arab Emirates.
