Ready to give Richard Commey a rematch – Jose Pedraza

Puerto Rican two time world champion Jose Pedraza has indicated his readiness to have a rematch with Ghana’s Richard Commey after the boxers fought their way to a split draw.

Judges scored the bout 97-97 for Pedraza, 96-94 for Commey and 95-95 that earned Commey a split draw decision on his junior welterweight (140 pounds) debut.

“I’ve never turned down a fight and I’m not going to start now. If they demand a rematch, I’m ready to give Richard Commey a rematch because he deserves it and I have the utmost respect for him.”

The main feature bout on a busy night for Top Rank Boxing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma was an entertainment filled 10 round clash between the former world champions.

With neither fighter pleased with the draw, Pedraza opined his willingness to have the two fight again to decide a winner in an interview with FightNews.

Pedraza hurt Commey in Rounds 9 and 10 with body shots that looked to have sapped a lot of energy from Commey who enjoyed the earlier rounds connecting with his right hand despite suffering a cut above his left eye in Round 6.
