Joshua Clottey- Isaac Dogboe shouldn’t go near Navarrete

Former IBF Welterweight Champion Joshua Clottey has thrown cold water on Ghanaian Featherweight Champion Isaac Dogboe’s interest to fight Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete for a third time.

Retired Ghanaian champion Clottey stated this in an interview with CITI Sports where he also touched on Richard Commey’s controversial split draw decision against Jose Pedraza. (Click highlighted text to read story)

“He shouldn’t go near Navarrete. There is something called nemesis, if you know your nemesis you are not gonna joke with your nemesis…he (Navarrete) is stronger now. Dogboe is too short for Navarrete. He thinking about Navarrete, maybe to me is a wrong deal” he said.

Dogboe fought Navarrete in back to back bouts but got dominated in both fights by the Mexican; the losses were the first in Dogboe’s career.

27 year old Dogboe has rebounded from those losses to score four straight wins including a split decision win over Joet Gonzalez in July to capture the WBO International Featherweight title.

After beating Gonzalez, Dogboe indicated his interest in a third fight with Navarrete who scored a sixth round knockout win over Eduardo Baez to retain the WBO Featherweight title recently.
