Mubarak Wakaso sees red for the 12th time in Club Career

Excluding send offs in international games for Ghana including his dismissal in the Black Stars win over Chile in the Kirin Cup, midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been sent off 12 times in his career.

The veteran enforcer in the middle of the park picked up his 12th red card in Eupen’s 1-2 loss to Union Saint-Gilloise in the last round of Belgian Jupiler Pro League games played.

Wakaso got sent off in the 91st minute after picking up a second yellow card for a foul committed at the time the score line stood at 1-1.

Saint-Gilloise capitalized on their numerical advantage as striker Victor Boniface scored a minute after Wakaso’s dismissal to get its fifth win of the season in nine games.

On the other hand, Eupen suffered its seventh loss in nine games and ranks 15th in the 18 team league standings with six points while Saint-Gilloise ranks sixth with 16 points.

In his club career, Wakaso has accumulated four straight cards and eight second yellow cards that has led to his exits from games.

32 year old Wakaso recently joined Eupen, has 14 goals, 19 assists and 128 yellow cards in 303 club games and is gunning for a place in the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
