Kotoku Royals charges politicians to fulfill promise of renovating Akim Oda Stadium

Head of Communications for Kotoku Royals FC, Okatakyie Afrifa, has called on politicians who pledged to support the club to renovate the Akim Oda Sports Stadium to fulfill their pledges.

The team’s debut campaign in the betPawa Ghana Premier League has had the Akim Oda based team play its home games at the Cape Coast Stadium, since the Akim Oda Stadium isn’t fit to host games in Ghana’s top flight.

In order to host league games, Kotoku Royals will need to develop several areas at the facility.

According to Okatakyie Afrifa, renovation works isn’t going as planned due to limited finances, as a result of individuals failure to fulfill their pledges and promises.

“Seriously speaking, the way we want things to go we don’t see it…it seems the work is getting slow as at now.

“The MPs’ (Members of Parliament), the MCEs’ (Municipal Chief Executives) those who told us they will help us to do the stadium have relaxed.”

“I want to take this opportunity to beg each and everyone to come and help us finish the stadium on time…they want to see their darling boys here in Akim Oda so I am appealing to each and everyone to come and help us so that we can fast track the stadium (construction) so that the team will return to Akim Oda” he said in an exclusive interview with CITI Sports.

Kotoku Royals has a 1-0 win over Accra Lions, a goalless draw with Nsoatreman and a 0-1 loss to Dreams FC in the betPawa League that is on hold due to a court injunction placed on the league.
