Paintsil

Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil, has reacted positively in the aftermath of his return to action after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Paintsil played 31 minutes off the bench in KRC Genk’s 1-0 away win against Leuven having missed three league games due to the above mentioned injury.

Former Tema Youth FC speedster Paintsil picked up the injury in Genk’s 1-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise after scoring the game’s only goal.

He won the Man of the Match Award in 37 minutes of play.

Paintsil has scored four goals and registered two assists in nine games and is in line to play in Genk’s midweek game against KV Westerlo on Tuesday, October 18.

The former Ferencvaros player expressed satisfaction on his return in a statement on his Twitter page saying, “Feels good to be back ! Another 3 points in the bag”

Paintsil’s return is timely considering the Black Stars list final squad list of players to compete at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is being put together.

The winger was surprisingly dropped from the Black Stars squad that competed in two international friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H at this year’s World Cup with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
