Ghana Basketball Association hold basketball clinic for girls in Accra

The Ghana Basketball Association has held a one-day clinic for girls between the ages of 6-15 at the University Ghana.

The GBA in collaboration with FIBA through this special initiative is geared towards giving “basic life support training for girls” to help equip them for the future.

The girls were put in groups and taken through some basketball drills, then were educated on health topics such sickle cell and breast cancer.

In what was a fun and educative interaction with the girls, one can say the purpose of the initiative was met.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the President of the GBA, Ato Van-Ess says the project is to promote basketball among ladies.

“We are looking at promoting girls basketball and we are doing this in collaboration with FIBA to help women in the sports globally. This is our framework and this is part of plans to work towards SDG 5, which is gender equality and this is why we are doing this for only girls,” he said.
