Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has marked his return to KRC Genk’s starting lineup by delivering a sterling performance in the team’s 6-1 win over KV Westerlo in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

The 24 year old scored a goal and assisted two of Genk’s goals in the win with his performance signaling full recovery from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss three league games.

He returned to action this past weekend and played 31 minutes in Genk’s 1-0 away win over Leuven.

Earlier this evening, Paintsil scored the game’s opening goal in the seventh minute and went on to assist Paul Onuachu’s goal in the 32nd minute and Daniel Munoz’s finish in added on time in the first half while winning a penalty Onuachu tucked away.

He was substituted in the 80th minute for Andras Nemeth.

The former Tema Youth player has scored five goals and registered four assists in 10 league games in the Belgian top flight while operating mainly as a right winger.

His performances are timely since Ghana’s Black Stars provisional list for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is to be named on Friday, October 21.

The Black Stars will compete at the World Cup for the fourth time in its history.
